Taryn - Release

Taryn was born in Rio de Janeiro, as the 5th generation of the Szpilman family (whose illustrous member, Wladislaw Szpilman was portrayed in the Roman Polanski´s Oscar winning film “The Pianist”) and for almost twenty years she´s been developing herself in the tradition of Jazz & Blues and their seeds such as Classic Rock and Soul Music in Brazil

Presently she´s the artistic director and vocalist of Rio Jazz Orchestra , founded by her father in Rio ,
four decades ago.

That´s where she also sings sophisticated arrangements for the Bossa Nova Classics (Brazilian Jazz) , Jazz&Blues standards and traditional Brazilian popular music.

She performed with the big band “The Billie Holiday Tribute” that quickly became very popular, bringing together for the first time in Brazil the classics of the Big Band Era and an acting performance. The show was extended to a one year tour.

Taryn appeared in many popular TV shows like “The Jô Soares Late Show”, where she has been four times, on the first occasion he praised her as Billie´s best interpreter nowadays in Brazil.

She usually appears in Brazilian famous soap operas, prime times, tv series, tv commercials and tv´s biggest musical shows. In 2017 she appeared in TV Globo´s primetime “Tempo de amar”, as a 1920´s jazz singer.

She has released 4 cds in her solo career, 3 of which dedicated to the Blues Story from the 30´s to the 60 ´s.
Taryn is annually invited to the biggest Jazz&Blues festivals in Brazil, where she has become the #1 female performer of these styles.

Taryn is also an actress and a voice actress. She has been singing for The Walt Disney Company movies in Brazil for more than one decade , and has recently performed the leading character Elsa in the biggest animated movie of all times, Disney´s “Frozen”(Oscar winning film and soundtrack) acting and singing for the Brazilian audiences the hit song “Let it Go” (Livre Estou )

Abroad, Taryn worked in Los Angeles with Andy Summers in 2003, guitarist of legendary band “The Police”.
She also sang in the Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland) .

Nouveau Vintage Café (Album and Concert release)

In 2016 Taryn is releasing her 4th album “Nouveau Vintage Café” dedicated to the Jazz&Blues story since the 30´s to the 60´s, recorded with renowned musicians around the world.

The album is filled with standards that are part of her concert featured at the biggest Jazz&Blues Festivals in Brazil, where Taryn stands out as the main performer of these genres currently, evoking in her performance the old Hollywood glamour of the movie stars and pinups of the golden era, with her soulful voice

NVC is a singular and inspiring musical experience where traditional Jazz, the Blues roots, Soul music, Classic Rock, Brazilian Music (and Afro aspects such as Dixieland, Negro spirituals, Latin jazz, Samba,Tribal music, and even Transcendental Indian music) are flirting with contemporary styles and tendencies such as Trip Hop and Electroswing, celebrating revolutionary artists and composers that shone beetween the 30´s and 60´s with a new musical appearance and arrangements.

Carmem Miranda , Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Dinah Washington, Howlin´ Wolf, Tina Turner, The Beatles and Led Zeppelin are a few stars honored in NVC. Among the songs,Taryn mentions curiosities and stories about the artists
and musical genres presented at her live concert, driving the audience into a real journey through vintage times and our cultural roots.
